"So." Christian leaned back in his chair, dropping his pen onto the tabletop and looking around at the others. "We settled on the facts?"
His father nodded, face solemn and Sean gave a snort of agreement. "Speaking for myself," he said. "I want to be the one who goes after Herman and the Bellows woman."
Christian nodded. "Fine by me." he agreed. "Now we know where Herman keeps his dirty little secret of a journal with all his info in it, and so long as you get it in the raid, we're good."
"We can't use how the journal's whereabouts were discovered." Marton reminded. "No problem though. I'll just issue a search warrant for his premises and you can 'find' it."
"Okay. Now, the Spike. I was planning on sending a squad of guards down there. It's a legal closure for non-con anyway but I just had a thought. Someone needs to go along who knows what they're looking at and for." Christian said, looking at Sean. "Any ideas?"
Sean thought about it. "Mads?" he offered. He looked at Marton. "Deputise him? He knows his stuff and I'm damned sure he'd love to be there. Hates that place with a passion."
Marton made a note on the pad in front of him. "Consider it done." He smiled slightly, the subject matter too serious for levity. "What about Carstairs?"
"Oh, he's mine." Christian's smile didn't reach his eyes. "There's a ranger patrol due in tomorrow. I'm going to borrow them and Harry and I will raid his place direct." He shut his eyes and then opened them again. "I'm going to ask Johnny if he wants to come along."
Marton frowned. "Is that wise?"
But Christian was ready to defend his decision. "It'll do him good to see Carstairs bought down." he said, then he shrugged. "Besides, he knows the ins and outs of that house, we don't. We know the place has been modified since Carstairs bought it, but the plans were never filed."
"So, when?" Sean asked, leaning forward to rest his elbows on the table.
"Simultaneous raids on all three." Christian said. "I don't think these bastards would trouble to warn one another but I'm not going to give them the chance. Friday evening, I'm planning for. Give Father time to get all the legalities settled without any of Bella's 'friends' finding out."
"Good. Okay." Sean stood up and gathered his papers. "I'll tell Harry." he said, glancing at Christian. "Unless you . . .?"
"No, no. You go ahead." Christian got up as well, as did Marton, signalling their meeting was at an end. "I've got to get back downstairs." he apologised to his father as Sean left.
Marton patted him on the shoulder. "I'll see you at dinner."
Christian nodded and headed off, on his way downstairs to go over the details with the Captain of the Guard.
